More Facts:
Phnom Chisor (Khmer ប្រាសាទភ្នំជីសូរ) is a 133 m high hill in Dok Por village, Rovieng commune, Samraŏng District, Takéo Province, Cambodia. It rises about 42 km south of Phnom Penh.
There is an ancient Khmer temple located on top of the hill. The temple was built in the 11th century of literate and bricks with carved sandstone lintels by the Khmer Empire king Suryavarman I, who practiced Brahmanism.
This temple predates Ta Prohm (Tonle Bati), roughly 10 miles NW on Tonle Bati. The stairs to the top of this hilltop temple are steep & far more difficult than those to Oudong Hill (NW of Phnom Penh). I didn't make it to the top.The entire area of Phnom Chisor is riddled with modern temples full of monks, 1,000 year old ruins, and breathtaking views of Cambodia’s majestic rice patties for as far as the eye can see, so make sure to pack a camera and plenty of water because you will most likely be spending a good amount of time there.
You may notice that the staircase leading up to Phnom Chisor are set up in a straight line. This perfect line points directly to the giant temple of Angkor Wat 300 miles away.
